The Conference
venue is located in the heart of Verona, in Piazza Bra, in front of the famous Arena.
The piazza is large and airy and partially kept as a garden. It is dominated by the massive Arena and two old buildings, the neoclassical Palazzo Barbieri, headquarters of the Town Hall and the 17th century old Palazzo della Gran Guardia, the Conference
venue, a baroque building once used for military gatherings and now the most elegant and modern meeting centre with all meeting facilities. On the other side is “the Liston” (pedestrian area), with its wide, pink marble sidewalk, where the people of Verona and the tourists traditionally take their "passeggiata" (stroll).
Verona is the city of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, a city famous worldwide for its magnificent historical buildings, squares, streets and bridges over the Adige River, the Opera Festival, the nearby attractive resorts of Lake Garda.
Located about 110km west of Venice and 160km east of Milan, Verona is well connected with other Italian and European cities by major highways and railways, as well as by the Verona “Catullo” International Airport.
By Plane
Verona's "INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT CATULLO" in Villafranca is approximately 10km far from the city centre.
There's a shuttle bus service to and from the airport from Verona Porta Nuova Railway Station.

The main railway station is "VERONA PORTA NUOVA" which is the crossroads of both the Milan - Venice line and the Brennero-Rome line.

There are direct trains from all the main railway stations in the north of Italy throughout the day.
City buses are available from the train station to Piazza Bra in the city centre, the central square where the Palazzo della Gran Guardia is found (distance about ½ km).
The direct city buses are numbers 11, 12, 13, 14, 72 and 73
By Car
Verona is easily reached by the A4 Motorway Milan-Venice, exit Verona Sud or by taking the A22 Motorway Brennero-Modena, direction Venice, always exit Verona Sud.
You should then follow the signs “all directions” (in italian:“tutte le direzioni”) or “city centre” (in italian:“centro”) or “Arena” which is located just in front of the Palazzo della Gran Guardia.
By Car
Via Roma, via Mazzini, via Cappello, via Leoni and Corso Portoni Corsari are all pedestrian zones. The historical centre is closed to traffic, with the exception of residents, authorised vehicles and cars going directly to hotels.
Free parking are available in the surrounding area but only for one hour with parking disc or in multi-level car parks (parking fees charged) beside Piazza Bra.

City buses are orange color and marked AMT - tickets must be bought before getting on the bus in the tobacconist and from newspaper shops.

The Conference will be in English, simultaneous translation into Spanish, Italian and French will be provided.
Coffee breaks and lunches will be served free of charges at the Conference
to fully registered participants wearing their badges.
Please note that vegetarian dishes will be on daily menu; for other special needs, we will try to serve a great variety of food so that it will be easier for you to get some alternatives in case of special diet restriction.

Identity papers should always be carried; a valid passport is required for citizens of other countries who should ask their local Italian Embassy or Consulate whether a visa and/or health certificate is required.
All banks in Italy exchange foreign currency and traveller's cheques.
Banks are open from Monday to Friday 08.30 am to 1.30 pm and most of them also open for one hour early in the afternoon.
The local currency is € (Euro). There is no restriction on the import of foreign currency into Italy and there are no limits for traveller's cheques. Automatic teller machines and exchange offices are readily available. Most hotels, restaurants and shops accept major credit cards but check first.
Shops in the centre of Verona are open from Tuesday to Saturday 9.00 am to 7.30 pm and on Monday afternoon. On Sunday and public holidays shops are generally closed.
Electrical Supply Voltage is 220V 50Hz. Electrical sockets have two round holes. Appliances designed to operate on 10/120 volts need a voltage converter and a plug adapter.
Post offices display the sign PT in blue on a yellow background. At a PT office you can telephone, send mail, telegrams and faxes. For local calls you can buy phone cards here or in any tobacconist. When calling abroad from Italy, you must first dial the International code "00", then country code and private number. Italy Country Code is +39 and Verona City Code is 045. Tipping up to 10% for outstanding service is of course accepted, but not necessarily expected in Italian restaurants, hotels and taxis.
March in Verona can be very nice with temperatures around 14 to 19ºC - and cold and humid at night. But lately we had also snow! Bring a sweater with you, we never know ....
